6 November – November Newsletter

Spring potatoes, nasturtium petals & mint….

Hello everyone,

Do you feel, like me, an overwhelming sense of anticipation and excitement building, as summer, Christmas and the holidays sneak up on us? How we got here so fast I just don’t know, but here we are, once again, with our LAST KITCHEN GARDENING DAY OF THE YEAR fast approaching, on FRIDAY 30 NOVEMBER.

SUMMER KITCHEN GARDENING is one of our favourites, (when I make Linda’s favourite of my puddings to end our lunch, and for which I’m carefully looking after the last lemons on the tree).  But far more importantly, it’s the day we run through ALL the information you will need, to nurture your garden through the hot summer months.

It’s an ideal day to re-visit Glenmore to top-up your knowledge.  For those who have been watching the process of crop rotation here since August, the end of November will see a full (if immature) summer garden.  I’ve almost completed our fruiting structures, with enclosures for shade underway.  Of course, as always, if you are a novice, we’ll also be delighted to welcome you here – all our participants have shared a ‘first day at Glenmore’.

As you can see from the image above, the very first baby new potatoes are here and at the weekend I harvested our garlic crop which is now drying under cover.  I continue to pick asparagus on a daily basis and the air is simply awash with the scent of roses and jasmine on the breeze….(though we really could do with a gigantic dump of rain – please?).

I very much hope to see you here at the end of the month.  For further details, and/or to make a booking, please click hereor if you would like to contact me, here.  Do have a quick look at my BLOG to see what’s been happening these last few weeks, and remember the Iris Country Fair is coming up on Saturday 17 November:  I’ll announce more information via blog posts about the fair, where I’ll be taking plenty of Essential Kit for my stand on the day.  I’ll very much hope to see you there…..but more importantly, here for KITCHEN GARDENING!

Best wishes as always,

Mickey
