16 March – Windsor & Jewels

The Duke & Duchess of Windsor, 1943 (attributed to society snapper, Dorothy Wilding).

Hello everyone,

The date for our WINDSOR & JEWELS day fast approaches: WEDNESDAY 28 MARCH.  And we have just a handful of places left to fill.

Follow the stories behind a number of the splendid pieces of C20th jewellery designed by the major jewellery houses of Paris, London and New York, with renowned Sydney jeweller, ROBB GARDNER.
I’ve decided on a delicious menu to follow on from Robb’s talk – a little teacup of autumn soup in the Kitchen Garden (if the weather is kind), followed by a sit-down lunch of Not-Quite Coronation Chicken (OK, so I have a ridiculous sense of humour, but it’s scrumptious and bejewelled with pomegranate from the garden), and a salad of Sapphire and King Edward Potatoes – by chance I had a fabulous harvest – isn’t that too quirky???!!!  I haven’t decided on pudding yet, but perhaps cumquat ice cream with figs, or fig ice cream with cumquats or something with rhubarb?

As I suggested to one participant who enquired as to the dress code for the day, tiaras will not be required!  It will make for a truly delightful day out – a little pre-Easter treat. Robb and I will look forward to seeing you here.

Very best wishes
