Myles Baldwin Day

Monday, September 05, 2011

Early last autumn, I thought what a treat it would be to invite Myles here to give a talk, and to time his visit for very early in spring, to inspire and get everyone out of their winter doldrums.  I chose a date accordingly - when everything in the garden would be neatly pruned & bare – holding all the promise of the season ahead…..

The Kitchen Garden, however, timed its early proliferation of flowers just perfectly for the day, & we were able to enjoy our little teacup of spring soup amidst its sea of poppies, borage & calendula & delight in the very first blossom on the espaliered fruit trees.

This was after Myles’ excellent talk:  from his ‘introduction on the inspiration & education of a gardener, through period garden style & rural garden design, with highlights from his body of work’, including, of course, my favourite Bronte House.

It was so lovely for our participants to enjoy lunch with Myles afterwards, and to have the opportunity to ask him lots of questions.   Everyone left with signed books & giddy ideas to put into practice.  It was a terrific day.  Thank you Myles!

My September Issue

Thursday, September 01, 2011

Welcome to everyone visiting my new & exciting (for me!) site – something I have been encouraged to get underway by so many of you!

If you have got this far, I imagine you are interested in Kitchen Gardening, Gardening, Plants, Seasonal Cooking, Organic Food, Local Produce, Old-Fashioned Skills like Growing & Preserving,  Houses, Gardens, Countryside, Interior Decorating, Fabric, utilitarian items of a Decorative nature and other pleasing necessities, that make up our daily, domestic lives, in an aesthetically pleasing manner.

For those finding me for the first time, essentially I was a city girl, am an Interior Decorator of almost thirty years, and set about restoring a derelict sandstone farmhouse in the hills of the Razorback Range just outside Sydney twenty-three years ago.

I began gardening at that time and have since introduced Kitchen Gardening & Seasonal Cooking Days where you can learn about these delightful, useful and I believe, necessary topics at my home, Glenmore House.

I’m sure you will become more familiar with the story, as in time, just like the garden, my BLOG will grow…..but for more information right now, click here.

I'll be updating my posts regularly and you can receive information about my programmes and events via my newsletter that will usually come out on a weekly basis. I'll be delighted to have you join the mailing list for my newsletter, to do that click here.

I look forward to sharing my news and updates with you, and hopefully seeing you soon at Glenmore House.
