Early last autumn, I thought what a treat it would be to invite Myles here to give a talk, and to time his visit for very early in spring, to inspire and get everyone out of their winter doldrums.  I chose a date accordingly – when everything in the garden would be neatly pruned & bare – holding all the promise of the season ahead…..The Kitchen Garden, however, timed its early proliferation of flowers just perfectly for the day, & we were able to enjoy our little teacup of spring soup amidst its sea of poppies, borage & calendula & delight in the very first blossom on the espaliered fruit trees.

This was after Myles’ excellent talk:  from his ‘introduction on the inspiration & education of a gardener, through period garden style & rural garden design, with highlights from his body of work’, including, of course, my favourite Bronte House.

It was so lovely for our participants to enjoy lunch with Myles afterwards, and to have the opportunity to ask him lots of questions.   Everyone left with signed books & giddy ideas to put into practice.  It was a terrific day.  Thank you Myles!
