Garden fennel and segments of those old-fashioned mandarins! OK, so the pips are a bit irritating, but do we really care?
The fruit is from a very old tree that once sat in an awkward position. We couldn’t bring ourselves to lose it completely, and so moved it during early landscaping and crossed our fingers. It’s never looked back and although it’s still not in an ideal position….I just garden around it (in those days I would never have thought the garden would expand quite so far!).
