This self-sown coloured chard has given us leaves on countless occasions these last months.  I find it difficult to bring myself to pull out anything that’s edible, even if it is in the wrong place!  This one has been prolific in the middle of the asparagus bed since January, but this evening, with the first single asparagus up (I can’t believe it – already!), it’s time for it to go.  It can have a good send-off: I think wilted chard to accompany a little smoked salmon & a poached egg….and one lone spear of asparagus to share – perhaps sliced down the middle!
