For many years I've thought how lovely it would be to have an artists' workshop in the Dairy at Glenmore.....a small group painting fruit and vegetables under the guidance and watchful eye of an enthusiastic painter: just imagine sitting in that white space, tables set with paints and brushes, a still life or two ready to go (or to be plucked fresh from the garden).
Enter JUSTIN VAN DEN BERG, who's light-hearted, colourful and highly decorative paintings in acrylic, ink and watercolour impart such a sense of joy! Wouldn't it be fun to pick up a brush and paint in a similar manner?
As it happens, Justin simply can't wait to run just such a workshop at Glenmore and will be doing so on WEDNESDAY 14 OCTOBER. He mooted the idea with me last year after his delightful exhibition 'Art of the Table', in collaboration with Susie Loudon at The Bay Tree in Woollahra and I couldn't resist the scenario! Justin has been painting (prolifically) and planning the day at Glenmore ever since. So to all you 'would-be painters', here's an opportunity for a delightful day to play!
I promise to make you a delicious seasonal lunch to keep your fingers and imagination flowing. As always we will begin the day with morning tea and one of my favourite cakes. There will be plenty of Elderflower Cordial, coffee (we have a new espresso machine - I just need to figure out how it works!) and Ovvio Tea on the go all day and if you were to feel momentarily weary, I'm sure it would be nothing a wander in the garden wouldn't fix.
You can find all the details and make a booking here, or if you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to contact me. Oh just the thought of spring......globe artichokes, asparagus, early peony poppies in the borders...pure heaven! Even I might be persuaded to pick up a brush! Justin and I will very much hope to see you here!
Best wishes as always,
