Perhaps you think talk of the kitchen garden in mid-winter sounds as riveting as watching paint dry! But I can tell you otherwise! It's a time of beauty and bounty, as well as elation and frustration. There's never a dull moment, that's for sure!
Also, there are a handful of spots left at next week's WINTER inTHE KITCHEN GARDEN on SATURDAY 10 AUGUST if you'd like to join me.
I haven't yet decided what we'll eat at our long table lunch, to follow the full morning's discussion and immersion in all aspects of kitchen gardening.....
But I really am going to have to pick the last of the Clementines, so there's a good chance poached Clementine segments might be on the menu to end. As the Navel orange is in full flight, I reckon that scrumptious flourless orange cake is how we'll begin; with morning tea to kick off the day! Soup? Hmm....maybe pumpkin, apple and ginger.....a winter leaf and petal salad....a few slithers of baked Jerusalem artichoke? Maybe that hearty loaf of rustic bread...I haven't made that for simply ages! Well...we'll see what the weather brings as the week rolls by, and decide on the day whether to eat outside in the sun, or in front of a crackling fire.
