inThe Kitchen Garden with Mickey
I’d be delighted to have you join me here in the Kitchen Garden at Glenmore House – a working garden full of constant activity, where change occurs daily through all the phases of growth and yield, beauty, abundance and expiration.
There is much to learn – whichever month, whatever season. The art of Kitchen Gardening is to be found in spontaneity, as well as practicality, and in attending these days, you will grasp the beating heart of the garden, the full circle of vegetable gardening and glean a true understanding of absolute seasonality.
Discussion and example on the days will encompass whichever tasks are relevant to the moment – from the care and nurture of all veg during their growing season (using organic principles of course) to the upheaval of crop rotation, staking and support structures, soil, compost, watering, tonics and seed collecting, through to the aesthetics and design of a Kitchen Garden. The days will simply reflect all that is relevant to the season and moment, so you can absorb the information at an unhurried pace.
Gardener or no, there will be much to absorb and enjoy: Learn, dream, eat, be inspired…..
These shape of these days have taken several different twists and turns during 2023! In an attempt to reduce the price, I tried taking away the lunch component and running the day as a morning session only..but ended up giving everyone lunch anyway (seemingly I can’t help myself!). We’ll begin at 10am with a tisane of garden herbs and cake before heading straight off to the garden for an immersive morning inspecting each of the beds in the Kitchen Garden….right through to the compost…tasting our way around the garden and discussing all the relevant topics as we go. We’ll head back to the Dairy at 12.30/1.00’ish to collect seeds to sow in your own garden and for a little garden-inspired something to stave off the hunger pangs! You will be welcome to potter in the Barn, and linger longer in the garden. Gates close 3pm.
