LUNCH IN THE LOGGIA
Lunch is an important part of our Kitchen Gardening Days.
Always simple, the lunches are based on seasonal produce and sourced direct from the garden as much as possible. (You will see Mickey gathering from the garden during the morning session from your vantage point in The Dairy, while you listen to Linda discussing the day’s topics).
During our first year, we have enjoyed soups, pastas & risottos, as well as quantities of leaves in seasonal salads. Sometimes there is pudding – like poached quinces. At other times there might just be figs plucked straight from the tree, and when the season is lean, we might end simply with dried fruit (organic of course!).
We always enjoy olives from the local Razorback Olive Grove, which Mickey prepares in herbs plentiful in the garden on the day.
We sometimes have taste tests of different veg varieties, of herbs you may not be familiar with, or a special morning treat of pea or broad bean shoots in tempura batter, or poached artichokes.
We simply make the most of what is in the garden on the day.
We have no chef! Mickey prepares all the food in the Dairy’s adjacent Pantry. So lunch is like a private picnic or lunch party. We ask that you let us know if there are any foods to which you may be allergic well in advance.
