What a whirlwind start to the year....the unexpected Great Dixter event, Trisha's Mediterranean Meanderings, Patrice's Adventures with Garlic, a couple of inThe Kitchen Garden Days and just last weekend, the Camden Show! It was such a treat to see so many of you here to farewell those last summer days, and I know I'm not the only one to be thankful they're behind us. Wherever you may be, I hope you're receiving the gentle rain that we are, though heaven knows, we need a deluge!
I just thought I'd drop you a quick update before Easter (how did that happen?) - as there are some absolute delights coming up on the calendar:
First, there are just a few spots left at INDIA FLINT'S WRAP UP FOR AUTUMN on THURSDAY 5 APRIL. Days with India are kind of exceptional - that's about all I can really say! Details here.
Then I'm off to THE COLLECTORS' PLANT FAIR on SATURDAY 7 & SUNDAY 8 APRIL. Collectors' is a must for all plant hunters....experienced or novice. The downside for me having a stall is I can't explore as much as I'd like! A new excitement there this year is....ta-da....that our good friend MARTIN BOETZ of COOK'S CO-OP is going to cook lunch on the Sunday, a la Glenmore Open Garden Pig & Potatoes! As I never seem to get to eat his lunch here, (every last tidbit is always gone) I'm putting in my order early! And I suggest you do too, or you'll miss out! There will be four time-slots and bookings can only be made online. It's making me hungry just thinking about it.....
And then....we have ANTHIA'S COOKING WITH TEA & HERBAL INFUSIONS on SATURDAY 21 APRIL. A few of you have mentioned you thought it the same as Anthia's workshops here to date, so dismissed it as a matter of course....but this one will be quite different, with Anthia preparing our lunch as she progresses through the morning's workshop....and you know she always has us hanging on every word she utters, with so many useful tips about our health and wellbeing. Our small group will have her ear all day long....so this is definitely a day that's not to be missed....for our own good, as well as pure enjoyment! Details here.
I'll soon have details up for Quiches, Tarts and Flans on 12 May, as well as Matilda Dumas' Abstract Painting on 26 May, but the NEXT inTHE KITCHEN GARDEN WITH MICKEY is on SATURDAY 5 MAY. (I'm only skipping April because of the Plant Fair). May will be a good day to attend - whether you're already underway or no. I've made good progress in preparing this season's beds, as well as planting much of the autumn/winter garden (while some stragglers from summer are still bringing in a haul too good to miss - like aubergines and tomatoes). I'd love to see you here.....there is simply always so much information to pass on and in turn....I know how much it helps participants share what they learn with family and friends....and especially the next generation. Details here for the morning session and here for the afternoon (everyone meets at lunch!).
Lunches will all be at the long table.....and the new season's recipes await which is nothing less than tantalising. As always, if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me. Oh and by the way....I just picked up stock of new dresses in both colours! But please contact me before completing your details if you're keen to secure one, to be sure I have your size :) Extensive details of all the events and workshops and their respective booking forms are to be found on the web calendar page.
How I will look forward to seeing you here!
With best wishes
